What is Cardiac Camp?

Cardiac Camp is a 5-day long, paid-for summer program for historically underserved and underrepresented high school students in the Bay Area. Students will learn about the basic anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system, heart disease, and prevention in early and late life, and learn to perform hands-on medical exams from UCSF’s finest faculty and medical students. This is a unique opportunity to not only build health literacy but to also disseminate basic health knowledge to dispel distrust in medicine that is often found in underserved communities.

In addition, students will be partnered with UCSF-affiliated faculty and students who will provide longitudinal mentorship in their pursuit of higher education.
