Welcome to Cardiac Camp
Cardiac Camp at UCSF is an entirely free, hands-on learning experience for Underrepresented Minorities in Medicine. Select students will learn about the cardiovascular system and the wider implications of cardiovascular disease in underserved communities. We hope to inspire the next generation of medical professionals.
Our Mission
Who are we?
In 2021, Nirosh Mataraarachchi began developing the idea of holding a Health Education Summer Camp for marginalized populations at UCSF. He first partnered with UCSF’s CSEO and recruited fellow medical students to develop a curriculum for each of the 5 days of camp. The inaugural camp was hosted at UCSF Parnassus campus with 10 students in late July 2023.
Our Origin
Cardiac Camp at UCSF would not be possible without the generation donations of the UCSF CSEO, UCSF MSTP Program, UCSF Department of Cardiology, the Women in Cardiology Faculty Group @UCSF, and UCSF School of Medicine Office of Medical Education.
