Senior Counselor Application

We are currently seeking undergraduate and pre-medical students to serve as Camp Counselors.

This is a unique opportunity to mentor high school students, strengthen your leadership skills, gain exposure to cardiology and academic medicine, and experience life as a UCSF student.

Why Apply?

As a Camp Counselor, you will:

  • Lead a small group of approximately 5 students

  • Guide students through hands-on activities and daily learning sessions

  • Mentor and support students throughout the week

  • Facilitate group reflections and discussions

  • Learn from world-class UCSF faculty and medical students

  • Be paired with a UCSF medical student mentor for your own professional development

No prior expertise in cardiology is required. Educational sessions are led by UCSF faculty and medical students — your role is to mentor, guide, and inspire.

Lead Counselor Opportunity

One counselor will be selected as the Lead Counselor, serving as a liaison between Cardiac Camp leadership (UCSF students) and the counselor team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting day-of logistics

  • Helping keep camp sessions on schedule

  • Coordinating student check-in and check-out

  • Assisting with meal coordination

This is a great opportunity for applicants interested in taking on additional leadership responsibility.

Key Dates

  • April 13, 2026 at 11:59PM – Application Deadline

  • Week of May 4, 2026 – Decisions Released

  • July 24, 2026 – Half-Day Counselor Orientation

  • July 27–31, 2026 – Full Camp Week

    • Approximately 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Commitment

All Counselors must be available for:

  • Half-Day Counselor Orientation: Friday, July 24

  • Full Camp Week: Monday, July 27 – Friday, July 31

    • Approximately 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM each day

Full participation is required.
